What is Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage is a style of massage that uses deep pressure to break down scar tissue, increase blood flow and relax tense muscles. Because a lot of pressure is used deep tissue massage has the potential to be painful, for this reason it is important that you keep open communication with your massage therapist, if the pressure is too much, let your massage therapist know. There is no set rule for what pressure to use, it is generally accepted that whatever feels best for you is the right pressure for you. It is important to note that deep tissue massage is not for everyone, some people respond very well to it, other people don’t respond well (or enjoy the experience) at all. All of our massage therapists are trained in a variety of techniques so keep in mind if you do ask for deep tissue massage you always have the option of switching to a less aggressive technique mid treatment.
